This client is an independent not-for-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information in the world. They send out questionnaires to thousands of organizations globally, querying about carbon emissions, energy practices and green initiatives. This information is gathered for research purposes.
The company’s primary issue was to develop a solution that allowed them to capture the extensive data they received, and organize it in such a way that it could be analyzed and developed into reports. They also needed to consolidate the information received based on various market segmentations, in order to show trends across various business sectors. One of the biggest challenges was also getting around the complex security model.
WCI took all the individual questionnaires from the last three years and consolidated them into one data source. We used the SAP BusinessObjects OnDemand Reporting tool to automate the collection, the standardization, the consolidation and presentation of the data. We then merged all the data with their existing CRM System to give them the ability to do structured reporting that could also be segmented based on various parameters.
For the first time in the company’s history, their data was now automated. This meant they could set up various modules for their clients which allowed them to have a more structured reporting platform, giving clients access to information that is specific to their industry or market segment.
It can also now be used as a tool to examine a client’s competitive environment, detailing where the client falls in the market versus their competition, and giving more visibility into their carbon/green issues.
With this new platform, WCI was able to open up the information to everyone, still allowing for tiered access levels. This robust solution is now a value-added sales tool the company can use when soliciting new clients.
